Life Cycle Community Work
It is Life Cycle’s practice to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other community groups to achieve common objectives. Over the years, Life Cycle has been instrumental in:
Commissioning 2 Housing Needs & Demands studies for the community - 2008 & 2019 CLICK HERE to view copy.
Organizing a housing workshop (2008) attended by around 150 people, including many community members, representatives from BC Housing and CMHC (Canada Mortgage & Housing Corporation). Keynote speakers included John Zaikow of Westview Real Estate and Christien Kaaij of Alofi! Consultancy.
Facilitating informal housing roundtable meetings. Started in 2010, these meetings provided an opportunity for service providers and faith based organizations to discuss housing needs. The group now meets quarterly at City Hall under the chair of City Councillor Maggie Hathaway. Life Cycle still attends the quarterly meetings, and is also a member of the Roundtable’s Steering committee.
Participating in community-based research organized by others, including planning processes that produced a Community Social Plan for the Powell Region (created by the Diversity Initiative), and the Powell River Regional Social Planning Program prepared by the City of Powell River.
Working with provincial and federal agencies such as BC Housing, which provides subsidies for one of our rental sites and which also provides start up and feasibility funding; and with CMHC which has also provided funding for feasibility studies.
