4949 Ontario Avenue offers 31 units in the heart of Powell River.

Located at 4949 Ontario Avenue (the top of Ontario Avenue, just behind the general hospital), this housing was built in 1997 with financial support from BC Housing and on land leased from the City of Powell River.
Its 31 suites are laid out in four separate townhouses and include a mix of one, two and three bedroom units. Four of the units are fully wheelchair accessible. Tenants include single persons and families. A common building in the centre of the property contains the society office, tenant laundry and meeting room for tenant functions. There are two play areas and also a fenced community garden that was built with a grant from Powell River Community Forest Foundation and assistance from the Rotary Club.
Our Ontario Avenue townhouses are operated under a contract with BC Housing and rents are set at about 10% below market rate. BC Housing provides rent subsidies for up to 18 tenants who cannot afford the established rents. Qualifying tenants pay only 30% of their income towards rent, with BC Housing paying the balance to Life Cycle. Subsidies are based on proof of income, which must be updated annually.
